Apartment Therapy
Thursday, February 16th, 2012A great, and easy way to update a small apartment is with a coat of paint. It’s an affordable solution that can easily change the entire look of a room.
If you are renting, the first step is to make sure that you are allowed to paint your apartment. Many landlords will actually allow this, providing that the colour is neutral enough not to offend the next tennant.
Your next step is to choose your colour. For a small space, choose a lighter colour, as this will create the illusion of a bigger room.
When painting your apartment, remember to put down loads of newspaper or plastic and to stick it down along the skirting with tape to make sure there is no mess.
Allow yourself at least one night out of the apartment so that it can air out. Another great way to update a small space is with a few scatter cushions to match the new paint job.
For just a couple of hundred rand you can have a whole new room this weekend.

This keeps it away from country cottage and firmly in contemporary.
